Liberty Bowl Events

Posted by Hayden Simons in Events

Quick note to let everyone know of two great events the Liberty Bowl is hosting this Summer

On Sunday, July 20th, we will be welcoming back past Legends of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl during our 50th Anniversary Legends Dinner at the Peabody Hotel. Coach Croom, Larry Templeton, Greg Byrne and SEC Commissioner Mike Slive are scheduled to attend along with many other Bowl Legends and coaches from the SEC and C-USA. The following day, Monday, July 21st, we will be teeing it up at Ridgeway Country Club for the 50th Anniversary AutoZone Liberty Bowl Golf Classic presented by Proactiv Solution. All proceeds from these two events will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For more information, please contact Patrick Byrne at (901) 795-7700.

Sendoff Party

Posted by Hayden Simons in Events

The Send off party is right around the corner.  This event is for students heading off to one of the greatest universities in the world next semester.  The event is set for July 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Cheney Parish Hall at the Church of the Holy Communion.  We’re planning on having barbeque again this year.  Like last year, there will be a bucket available for donations, but there is absolutely no cost for students or family of students.

This event is great for students that are going off to MSU from the Memphis area and parents of those students.  It gives the parents relief to realize what a great university they are about to send their kids off to.  It gives the students a great chance to meet some of their future bulldog family.

If you will, shoot us an email to memphismaroonclub@yahoo.com and let us know how many you’ll be bringing!  As we hear more on who will be attending from the University, we’ll update the site!

Road Dawgs Tour - Smashing Success

Posted by Hayden Simons in Events

Coach CroomFor those in attendence, you know what a great event we had.  The food was good, the presentation was great.  A family event that was an all around good time.  We were surprised by Mississippi’s former Lt. Governor, Amy Tuck!  We also had the privilege of having MSU’s oldest living letterman in the crowd.  Quite a distinguished group of folks made up the crowd of around 200.  A couple of news channels were onsite as well, so you most likely caught a glimpse of us on the nightly news as well!  Great press for that Bulldog Nation we’re working on building.

Former Mississippi Lt. Gov. Amy TuckA special thanks to those that did attend as well as all those that put forth the effort to make this event happen.  I want to especially thank Stephen Woo, Alison Hinson, Paul Hopkins and Tommy Roberson.  There were a lot of folks on the MMC board that helped out with this, but these four in particular really went above and beyond.

We had some great raffle items and some really cool auction items including a genuine MSU baseball jersey signed by Coach Polk.  All in all, an event that we’ll have to work hard to top.  But we’ll be looking to top it.  Keep checking back on upcoming events.  If you want to get plugged in to the alumni association or to the Memphis Maroon Club board, please shoot us an email and we can help you make it happen!

Congratulations to the Memphis Maroon Club and Carol Triggs for receiving the Honorable Award Chapter for out of state Alumni Association chapters.  This huge honor was bestowed upon the Memphis Maroon Club thanks to the dedicated members of the Alumni Association in the Memphis area.  Your help has made us what we are today.

The MMC board is in the process of completing the calendar for 2008.  Check back soon to see some of the events that we’re looking forward to!
