Road Dawgs, Feed the Team

Posted by Hayden Simons in Events, General Status

The Road Dawgs event was a huge success.  We had about 300 in attendance to hear Head Football Coach Dan Mullen and AD Greg Byrne.  A great time was had by all.  We’ll get pictures up soon!

I also want to take this opportunity to let you know about the annual “Feed the Team” event that is coming up.  Below is an email that has been sent out by our Radio Broadcast Chairman, Robert Hubbard:

The Memphis Maroon Club needs your help in feeding the MSU Baseball Team on their visit to Memphis on Tue, May 12.  A donation of $25 will get you one entry in a drawing to spend a 1/2 inning in the radio booth with Jim Ellis.  Enter as many times as you want or just make a donation to the cause.

Yes, Jim Ellis, the Voice of MSU Baseball for over 30 years, will again allow 2 lucky people (1 at a time for 1/2 inning each) to visit with him in the AutoZone Park Press Box during the MSU-Memphis game on Tue, May 12, at 3:00pm.

Please send a $25 check made payable to “Memphis Maroon Club” to:

Memphis Maroon Club
P.O. Box 3692
Cordova, TN 38088

Deadline for entry is Monday, May 11.

Even if you don’t win, your donation entitles you to a “Meet and Greet” with the team after the game in the Right Field Picnic Pavilion at AutoZone Park as they dine on Memphis BBQ.
The drawing will be done on May 11 by Memphis Maroon Club officers, so we must receive all forms by that day.  PLEASE ACT NOW to ensure entry and please let me know that your check is in the mail!

Thank you for your contribution that will help the Memphis Maroon Club feed the team.  Any leftover funds will go to our Radio Broadcast Fund that pays for the Memphis Maroon Club sponsorship of MSU sports on Fox Sports Radio AM730.  If you have questions, please send an email to memphismaroonclub@yahoo.com or call me at 901-292-6989.

Sendoff Party

Posted by Hayden Simons in Events, General Status

For those that are now at MSU that were at the sendoff party, CONGRATULATIONS!  You are about to embark on one of the most memorable journeys of your life.  We had a great turnout with about 125 folks at the sendoff party on July 28th.  We gave away $4,000 in scholarships and recognized those that won scholarships at our recruiting party.

I’d like to give everyone a heads up on the next major event we’re looking to put on the schedule.  We’re working on getting Coach Stansbury along with some others from Mississippi State here in late September/early October.  Once a date has been nailed down, we’ll post here.  We’ll also shoot to have a mailout to remind everyone.  We’re looking to get some awesome auction items.  As we get more details on those, we’ll post here as well.  Trust me, if we get some of the items we’re looking to auction off, this is an auction you won’t want to miss!

Check out our photos page for pictures from the Sendoff Party.

Posted by Hayden Simons in Events, General Status

The Send off party has been scheduled!  Its set for July 28th in the Cheney Parish Hall at the Church of the Holy Communion.  We’re planning on having barbeque again this year since it went over so well last year.  More details will be coming soon, but go on and pencil the date in on your calendar!

The Road Dawgs tour is right around the corner.  We’re starting to get quite a number of RSVPs and we’re filling up fast.  If you’re going to make it and haven’t RSVP’d yet, please do so.  Easiest way is by shooting an email to memphismaroonclub@yahoo.com and let us know how many you’ll be bringing!

Awards Banquet

Posted by Hayden Simons in General Status, Member Recognition

Congratulations to the Memphis Maroon Club and Carol Triggs for receiving the Honorable Award Chapter for out of state Alumni Association chapters.  This huge honor was bestowed upon the Memphis Maroon Club thanks to the dedicated members of the Alumni Association in the Memphis area.  Your help has made us what we are today.

The MMC board is in the process of completing the calendar for 2008.  Check back soon to see some of the events that we’re looking forward to!
